Personal Statement

Where do I start?
Since I was a little kid, I knew that I wanted to be some kind of tinkerer , I've always been the kind of tech nerd that likes to disassemble any sort of mechanism, understand how it works from the inside and then test my understanding about it by reassembling it just to see if it works as it did before I mangled it.
Research gave me a big opportunity to adjust this abstract concept into something do-able in our modern (advanced-ish) society where you cannot just "invent the lightbulb" or "discover the gravity"; that, plus my will to do things for the better & my sense of fulfilled when I help someone makes the environment of Professor-Researcher look like a dream to me, which in practice, has proven me to fit in my very soul desires as good as a glove.

About me

I'm a Master's Student-Researcher specializing in signal processing, communications, and networking, with a strong focus on developing innovative solutions for wireless technologies. My research spans areas such as software-defined systems, timing synchronization, OS-ML implementations and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications [Telephony infrastructure systems]) technologies.

In addition to my technical work, I am passionate about -helping- mentoring the next generation of engineers and researchers. I lead two currently active research projects and supervise students working at it, fostering an environment where curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving thrive. I am the founding President of the Web/App Development Club at UTEP; more information on the projects section.

My work is driven by the belief that research should have a tangible, positive impact on society. I am committed to advancing communications technologies and empowering others through education. I believe in working towards solutions with the sole purpose of helping each other can bring our society to great places and I stand it at my own grounds; with technology, eager to establish networking opportunities & overall facilitating tools to others that could bring connectivity and innovation to underserved communities.

Education

The University of Texas at El Paso

M.S. in Computer Science Expected: May 2026

As this chapter in my life is still open, I have a lot of expectations from it. I've been able to continue my research efforts that I've been working for half of my Bachelor's degree. Early into it, I obtained an Teaching Assistantship position for which I expect to enhance my insight into teaching methods, leadership skills and the other whatnots that this position offers.

The University of Texas at El Paso

B.S. Degree in Computer Science Obtained: May 2024

This Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree is one of my first milestones -educationally speaking- that helped me point towards where I wanted my career path to develop. It forged my first encounterings with such amazing workfield as research & teaching is. This journey encouraged me to have a great insight into the amazing and unified community UTEP is. During this period of my life, I explored a lot of paths that the CS field puts on the table as Machine & Deep Learning, Networks, Cyber-Security, Web Development and Signal Processing for which I determined that the ideal field for me to work at (but not limited to) is a mix of Cyber-Security, Signal-Processing and Networks.

Work

Open Radio Systems (Fulda, Germany)

Research Intern — Telecom Timing & FPGA July 2025 – September 2025

Worked on ns synchronization and transport for radio platforms (Zynq-7000 ZC706). Prototyped PTP-based timing, analyzed host–FPGA PCIe vs eCPRI trade-offs, and contributed tooling around a personalized monitoring tool FPGA Sync Coordinator (FSC) for timing tracking and control.

The University of Texas at El Paso

Teaching Assistant — Computer Security February 2025 – Present

Lead labs and office hours, created and reviewed exam material, and supported course operations and student mentoring for the Computer Security course.

El Paso Community College (EPCC)

IT Intern — Linux & Infrastructure May 2025 – August 2025

Assisted with server hardening and documentation across Red Hat/Oracle Linux systems; evaluated open-source automation and bot options for student support.

Outlier AI

AI Model Trainer (Contract) March 2025 – Present

Curated and evaluated datasets and model outputs for instruction-tuned LLMs, emphasizing quality, safety, and multilingual coverage.

Varsity Tutors

Tutor — Computer Science & Conversational Spanish January 2025 – Present

1:1 and small-group tutoring focused on computing fundamentals, programming, and Spanish conversation practice.

CAHSI — Computing Alliance of HSIs

Graduate Advocate August 2025 – Present

Organized workshops and mentorship for Latinx CS students; coordinated cross-campus events and resources.

The University of Texas at El Paso

Research Assistant May 2022 – Present

Ongoing work on a GPS-independent, software-defined PLL for telecom timing (DAHDI core-timer “fudge” control with userspace PID), and tooling in osmo-e1d (FIFO telemetry via VTY). Led student contributors and cross-lab collaborations in signal processing and networking.

AI4ALL — College Pathways

Student Coordinator January 2024 – December 2024

Mentored 30–45 students per semester, coordinated volunteer AI experts, and organized symposiums for student research presentations.
